the barycenter ssc is needed BEFORE planets can be added
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=551

you will notice that i am using the default celestia orbit and rotational model for the BEFORE and AFTER "spice"
for the planets it is almost spot on you might notice a small shift or turn but not much
the real BIG changes are with the moons ( but not "The Moon" )

PS.
a note of WARNING!!!!!!!
the times for "Ending " for the pre and spice sections
the pre spice has 2 months added for the orbit drawing and the post sipce is less 2 months
BE VERY CAREFUL on the days and months , not every month has 31 days
there is 28/29 , 30 ,and 31
if you list too many days you WILL get an error
Feb 31 will give you an error


WARNING - for Linux and maybe Apple users ( Apple is an unknown at this time )
this file needs to be part of a single "SolarSystem.SPICE.ssc file
the c-Language read order is in affect on these Operating Systems

John,

many thanks for your ongoing Spice update!

Do you have an idea how we might run precision tests for the current Spice accuracy once all has been installed ? That would be quite essential e.g. for celestia.Sci. Perhaps via Charon-Pluto eclipses as seen from Earth, the timings of which are pretty well known ?...Testing in the Jovian system would require the spice kernels for the Galilean moons besides Jupiter.

Any better ideas?

i have only so far updated the inner solar system

one check for the 438 bsp is to see if the pre and post spice orbits line up , a test i have not done yet

seeing this is just a normal spice update for the locations of barycenter and planet center

error fixed with the de438.bsp

just found an error with the new 433.bsp do to the use of PC and not barycenter

use the older 436.bsp for now
