this is a drop in spice addon for 2018VG18

this fixes the normal map in the other thread and fixes the pink color
( i still like the redder color like the pole of Charon )

I think now this is a great texture for 2018VG18! Many thanks. As to the best shade of pink, I also agree with you: a little more pinkish would look even better.

Presumably an intrinsic difficulty is the large brightness difference between the bright crater-like spots and the much darker extended rock areas. This mismatch turns even bigger at low planetary illumination. I will experiment a bit using GIMP's 'Curves' and perhaps 'Sample Colorize' that can make such brightness islands more "coherent".


PS: I did not notice a significant drop in illumination by going from SpecularPower >1 to ~0.3 (at least in celestia.Sci). Got to look at the code...
