The problem is for the FORUM ONLY, not for the main Shatters site (Celestia)

Down again....

SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Too many connections [1040]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.

Becoming a bit of a regular occurrence...
I would like to put forward the hypothesis that there is a correlation between shatters.net downtime and the onset of the ski season in North America.
(...and I suspect this season is one of the best in many years. )

Care to do a statiistical study ala "Swine Flu" fridger???

Of course...its related to Chris snowboarding activities. I suppose lock-ups happen quite regularly, yet if he's around people won't notice much thereof. As I know snow-storms in the area of his provider tend to often cause such events (power failures).

Too bad:
"Swine flu" studies cannot be further pursued due to lacking data ;-) . Here is a last plot about weekly NEW infections in Germany (hard to make them out):

So no big deal anymore, although there is firm evidence of a mutated form of swine flu virus that also causes regularly a fatal ending via an incurable pneumonia.

You understood me perfectly. Not to mention, Chris has been known to trip on the power cable in his haste to get up the mountain, although I can't really blame him for that!

You understood me less than perfectly... When I said "a la Swine Flu, I meant "in the style of" the Swine Flu study.
I was thinking of a chart with the date on the X-axis and plotting 2 values on the Y-axis:
1. Snowfall at skifields in the Seattle region
2. Shatters.net availability in hours.

I presume this to be an inverse relationship.

Anyway, shatters appears to be back now, so it must have stopped snowing in Seattle.

Actually ;-) I understood your remark concerning my statistics plots about the Swine flu perfectly well, but -- malicious as I am -- I thought it wouldn't hurt to "stuff you" with some respective latest details instead ...

This is what ChrisL wrote in the Dev list, just in case you are still unaware:

ChrisL wrote:
The machine hosting the Celestia forum and web site has been having hardware troubles. The disk seems to be OK (and there are backups), but the machine doesn't run for more than a few minutes before shutting itself down. At this point, it's looking like I'll have to replace the hardware. It couldn't have happened at a less convenient time, unfortunately, as I'm very busy preparing for two conferences that I'm attending in a couple weeks.

Right, I hope it's not again the previous hardware issue...
ChrisL might be in the air already (towards Europe...)
