Has anyone heard from Runar recently?

I haven't seen any activity from him on either forum for perhaps a year at least. I think he may have a new job which perhaps keeps him busy, but maybe he is in touch by email, or lurks from time to time...?

CC

P.S. Rumours of his continued imprisonment are not true, despite my avatar.

Hi Chuft,

Last time I was in touch with him was some months ago and he do had a big responsibility with the development of some web based tools keeping him quite busy; I'm not sure when he'll be back but I guess it's just a question of time...

I contacted Runar more frequently, mostly in case of problems with the CM operations. On and off there were permission problems in the CM box, since Runar had originally written the special WEB stuff. Also ibiblio changed their server and email not very long ago, which again required Runar's help.

He's professionally very much tied in, as Christophe already mentioned.

Similarly it seems that real life caught up with ChrisL (after he got married ;-) ) . While his Cosmographia is still openSource and freely available, he is earning $$ with it mainly through the MAC apps vendor channel. I fear that's why no spare time remains for Celestia.

Thanks guys,

I too have for various reasons been forced to reduce my Celestia related activities in the last few years.

I suspected as much wrt. Chris after you hinted at it in a PM to me a long time ago Fridger.
Belated congratulations to Chris. :)

Cheers

But recently you became quite active again. That's nice.

As a token of easing relations with the CM site, you'll notice from my avatar that Runar has been released from his imprisonment. :)
Given that his original comments were very likely in support of the Avatar Revolution (a sentiment that was possibly misinterpreted by me at the time, as I was spoiling for a fight  ), I've decided to show clemency.

Only trouble is, now that I've deleted the prisoner avatar, I cannot upload a new avatar. --- I think there's something wrong with the avatar uploading feature.

I suppose another permission problem left-over. I'll look into that ASAP.
I hope your new avatar wasn't too big? ;-)

CC,

here I am now, as a perfect underdog user with no priorities whatsoever. My name is testfri. AHA!

I uploaded my wellknown baby avatar and got the same problems as you observed.
This means that I can now look much easier deep down into the permission jungle for poor user testfri

Do that tomorrow...

a little while later:

CC,

you should be able to see that I succeeded after some permission hunting. So please just try again to upload your new avatar. These problems were (and sometimes still are) quite awkward. It all came from a transfer of the whole ibiblio infrastructure onto new servers...

regards,
testFridger

You should know better than to provoke me like that!

CC,

ah, I see,

your new avatar alludes to you being a Gangnam style master!? See also

As I reported there, I am doing Gangnam style dancing every morning in the shower. My wife indeed took a few cute shots (as you warned me she would...):

oops, I forgot a little detail on this shot. This one is really cool :

for "taking a break " i do things like this rendering
Image
it is a 3d rendering of part of a "Mandelbox" fractal

and no i will NOT be uploading a GANGNAM STYLE icon
