Post subject:  Anyone has ever watched or read Contact?

I've just finished watching the movie Contact (30 min a day, and the TV "series" lasted for about five days), which is to honor Carl Sagan.

What appeared first in the movie quite astonished me, since a film that is even a bit older than me has so good visual effects! I mean, even better than some of the lastest movies, as far as I am concerned. New movies tend to make things "artistic", and a lot of pure things are lost.

The idea of the movie is some kind of similar to the book Cosmos, my favorite. Carl Sagan's ideal and romance seem to be appealing to public. And I got to know him through one of the texts on my Chinese coursebook. He's also recommended by our physics book.

A lot of people look down on Sagan, for a scientist should not be too active in front of the public. Instead, he or she should concentrate more on the research work. This opinion makes sense, though. However, I like his work very much.

Dr A's experience, wow, terrific. But I hope my way of life can go a bit smoother if I would have the chance to do research job. I wouldn't mind science can be tough. I especially HATE those who know nothing about science boast themselves and say scientists are evil... They'd better not use phones.

What do you think of the film? Anyone has ever watched Cosmos, the documentary?

And opinions about tech, or relativity?

Oh yes, I have to agree here. I saw the movie first and was impressed. While reading the book I realised that in several important details the story is quite different. It seems the movie wants to tell a different message and I don't understand why.

Really interesting, the three books that you have justsaid is right on my shopping list, and one of them, Pale Blue Dot is right on my desk.
I haven't seen his interview... any... I've just read his Cosmos. I don't really know...

I find the film is already good enough. I do believe the book might bedifferent and more fascinating. I was especially disappointed about the movie Tintin in the aspect of plots in the same way. The story is totally different from the original. Now I'm looking forward to the coming of my new book.

BTW, we've already seen people nude in the film right... not in the capsule though... I dislike the very commercial way that they make movies. It would have been a nice education film for kids, but what if kids see that kind of thing...
