Downloaded a mod from The Celestia Motherload to modify the Pi1 Cancri star system. Unfortunately, after adding the mod, it doesn't replace the existing star system, but adds a duplicate star system on top of the existing Pi1 Cancri star system...

:shock:

Here is the formula for the Pi1 Cancri star system as it appears in the spectbins.stc file:

# Barycenter 45170 "PI1 Cnc:81 Cnc:GJ 337 A:CCDM J09123+1459AP"
# {
# RA 138.074439
# Dec 14.995441
# Distance 66.415598
# }
#
# "PI1 Cnc A:81 Cnc A:GJ 337 Aa:CCDM J09123+1459A"
# {
# OrbitBarycenter "PI1 Cnc"
# SpectralType "G9V"
# AppMag 6.51
#
# EllipticalOrbit {
# Period 2.705
# SemiMajorAxis 1.141 # mass ratio 0.89 : 0.85
# Eccentricity 0.433
# Inclination 136.473
# AscendingNode 188.503
# ArgOfPericenter 303.457
# MeanAnomaly 143.564
# }
# }

# "PI1 Cnc B:81 Cnc B:GJ 337 Ab:CCDM J09123+1459P"
# {
# OrbitBarycenter "PI1 Cnc"
# SpectralType "G8V"
# AppMag 6.49 # lacking, used HIP data of the entire system!
#
# EllipticalOrbit {
# Period 2.705
# SemiMajorAxis 1.195 # mass ratio 0.89 : 0.85
# Eccentricity 0.433
# Inclination 136.473
# AscendingNode 188.503
# ArgOfPericenter 123.457
# MeanAnomaly 143.564
# }
# }

Here is the mod formula for the star system as written in Pi1 Cnc.stc file:

}

"PI1 Cnc D:81 Cnc D:HD 79096 D:Gliese 337 D"
{

}

What else is the mod file missing to overwrite (instead of duplicate/superimpose) the star system?

it is up to the CREATOR of the add ons to KEEP THEM up to date
( i only check new ones , mostly )

this one is from 2009
it is 6 YEARS out of date and for a 6 year old version of the program

as you see the location data for "Pi1" in "spectbins.stc" is commended out ( the # at the start of the line)

however this star is in the "visualbins.stc"
