Hi all... just posting this to see if any mac users have noticed the same...

My new mac mini running Yosemite will not display my 16k textures... if I downsize to 8k they appear but it's a backward step.

I've only just noticed this as I normally use VTs

What is the value of Maximum Texture size reported by Help > OpenGL Info?
Which Mac mini model are you using?

This is typical of a video card driver not supporting the texture size.

I had this problem a very long time ago, but I can't tell on which system and which hardware.
However, I think I could reproduce this at work, on the very poorly supported 13" MacBook Pro with Yosemite (or the previous OS X)
I could even totally freeze that MacBook with Celestia on it. And it's the fault of the portable's configuration by our poor computer support at work.
This MacBook really sucks ! I don't think that the bug is on Celestia's side.

At home, I'm currently on an old Mac mini 2010, and an old 13" MacBookPro 2010, both with OS X Snow Leopard.
I'm using that special ultra powerfull Celestia from Da Woon (made with my help a few years ago).
That version never got published (what a shame !).
It is *ABSOLUTLY ROCK SOLID*. Not a single glitch !
That special version could not even be crashed by any means on my two home computers ! (and I did tried, if Da Woon remember) :mrgreen:
Really, I don't think I have any piece of software as stable as this version of Celestia (or maybe LaTeX).

Yes... Snow Leopard was able to display these textures with no problems.

My mini is a (Late 2014)
Graphics Intel Iris 1536 MB

It's not clear to me why they aren't working for you (and I don't have a similar environment to reproduce unfortunately).
Do you see any strange output on your Celestia console (~ key)?

I get the same with a 16k jpg too...

I am a tad frustrated with this as I've spent some time converting the NASA monthly maps to dds (via Squish - thanks dirkpitt!)

8k doesn't cut it for me.

Back to the VTs.

If I remember well, it is the DDS textures that are causing problems to some recent Mac OS X drivers.
These textures were crashing the whole computer !

That's what I've experienced with the 13" Mac BookPro from my work place (**VERY BADLY** configured by the computer team !).

It looks more of a bug in MacOS...

here's finder with two textures... the 16k is displayed as a generic icon.
