I would so much like to see this galaxy rendering live on my desktop...

Well, Christmas is over, New Year as well, maybe we get a nice Valentines-Day present?

On the other hand, I must admit that I have almost given up hope to ever see celestia.Sci running.
You know that in the open source world you don't have to make a stable release just to share your code and let others try it out or even help to find bugs and improve it?

Certainly, but celestia.Sci is a very complex program. Besides developing new code for a host of new features (such as Gravitational Lensing), we simply don't have the menpower to answer in addition all the questions that people will surely have initially, i.e. in a too early stage of going public.. Don't forget that celestia.Sci will come for THREE operating systems in 64bit format throughout. Many unexperienced people will need help in building and installing such involved software. Hence plenty of instructions / manuals will still have to be written etc.

Sorry for keeping you waiting...

Hi Fridger,

On the other hand here in this forum you might find the core team to help you do the writing of manuals/help texts and answering the most basic questions.

It would also help testing the installations on a wider set of computers and different configured OS. And gathering the input for the questions that will come.

Just my 2 cents,

Guckytos

 And of course trying to nudge you in the release direction :°

Well, Guckytos, there are a number of Pro's and Con's...

I still remember how we tried to push Chris Laurel into releasing far more frequent Celestia updates. ;-)

Cheers,
Fridger
