Hi all,

Wow! That looks pretty good. Actually, martin, does this image involve the normalmap and the specmap essentially from my tools or did you finally employ some other technology?

normal is at 100% as created by your magnificent tool now - in the scene setup. 32k in .psb (large pixel format)
I darkened the land-area of the specmap in photoshop and added another layer in the shader with the same map on multiply mode. 84k .psb
So now, I can adjust the level of reflection through the alfa ;-) - at least a bit ^^
reflective light with lumas & anisotropic

I've color modified the base map as well - oceans look much better now - dark coast lines almost gone.

you will find that that is a issue with the map
the oceans

the vast majority is a "fill" color
and near the shore line it gets darker ,then brighter, then darker again before it gets to the beach

I have been hand painting some of that after running a long running "inpainting" script


but the blue marble2 is still the best NO CLOUD map for all 12 months

Hi John,

I did the following on the base map:

Used the paint bucket along with selective color correction via a selection in a layer.
The bucket worked surprisingly well with the right tolerance and fill density of about 20%.
It looks much more like a blue now rather than a violet and the various gradients along coastlines were mostly kept intact.

Earth in 4D looks great and I wonder however, is it practical to come up with such a concept. You can find it working for 3D; however, it should be a complex affair when engaging with the 4D concept. It is tough for commoner like me to understand the entire idea.
