Very useful stuff! Looking good...
Random generation will take an increasingly important place in celestia.Sci.

Thanks John,

Very nice work:

Just a couple of minor quibbles though...

1. There's a fairly obvious seam on the texture:

Any comments / thoughts on how to avoid this type of artifact when using this random generation method?

2. The file-sharing site you use (zshares.net) always has some very annoying advertising popups in the browser which refuse to close easily.
(No reflection on you personally or the quality of your efforts, but I have been a bit wary of downloading your addons since you began using zshares.net ). There are plenty of reputable file-sharing sites around which don't behave so badly. Can I suggest a change? (I'd be happy to make some suggestions if you're willing to make the change.)

Regards
CC

that seam can be fixed with a bit of a larger mesh and uv mapping it in the cmod

it is "close" to round so a simplecylindrical map works mostly well
but just wrapping it around a 3ds dose have some issues
it also is a VERY lores mesh

as to the advertising
i use "no-script" and "ad block plus" with ghoestery and see NO advertising

i see maybe 1 or 2 ad's a week

------- edit -----
just updated the mesh to a higher res cmod
2 pixels per deg -- 7 meg with a 2 k tex UV mapped to the cmod no need to list a texture in the ssc file

Yes, I did scroll down and saw the "Premium" and "Free" download buttons, but thought those were for downloading the zShare program itself. Not the actual item.

there is NO zshare program you have to install
you do NOT have to install ANYTHING
click the Free
wait 45 sec. ( countdown)
and download

---- edited for my content

with rapidShit [ rename of r a p i d s h a r e ( d o t ) c o m] being blocked by many hosting company's and in some countries
it is requiring having tracking cookies installed and java/flash forever "tracking" cookies
( the block --- link ~/.macromedia/Flash_Player/#sharedobjects to /dev/null )
i do not use rapidbleep

zshare has been good for me for many years , though they did move out of the USA to prevent what happened to magauplode

if people want the new "maga" might work, but i have not used it

Just FYI, I downloaded your file with no problems, and no ads.

Thanks very much John. ;)

Some say if it survives the sun today, it will be really bright in the next couple of weeks.
