Hi John.
Quote:
a very interesting Vesta Topography Map, almost 12K large (exactly 11521 x 5761 pixel)
Quote:
that size 11521 x 5761 is not a multiple of "2" BUT a multiple 360 +1
( the +1 px is do to the CENTER of the px is were latitude and longitude is STARTED )
that size is a 32 ppd image ( 32 pixels per degree )
I noted it, but from my ignorant point of view I simply added a 1 pixel column in order to obtain a 2:1 proportion. Was I so wrong?

I think that perhaps you 3D gurus could use it, don't you?
Quote:
not really , but it is cool to look at
for 3d work one NEEDS height data - real or synthetic
that would be the DEM in the first post
DEM = Digital Elevation Model
these pixel values are in Meters or Kilometers of the RADIUS of the body at that point
I know, I followed your work, but I just supposed (and hoped, too) that NASA could have released not only the resulting image but the relevant height data values too, in order to allow their use with the scientific graphic formats (for me absolutely unknown) that I have seen you use fluently.
This was often done.
Anyway, as you say, it's very interesting to see in color the lows-highs distribution on Vesta surface.
Thank you for your very kind explanation.
Bye
Goofy
