just having some fun and procrastinating on other things

Playing with " GaseousGiganticus.c "
starting with a plasma noise input running it through the program for some added turbulence
the original and the output ( minor contrast adjustment )

Hey John,

this cloud map is really beautifull !

Can you publish the final PNG version, with transparency ? And preferably a high res version (4096 X 2048) ?
If you resample the texture file, be particularly careful at the edge of the texture, so no seams should be visible. This problem is very frequent with cloud maps.

It would make a nice alternative to the usual boring cloud maps...

i have been playing with different clouds including my "synthetic venus cloud"
the standard output from gaseous-giganticus.c is 4k ( almost there is some size shrinkage do to using a CUBE map and converting that to simple cylindrical

but the code is EASILY hacked to output a 8k map
however that takes 4X exponentially longer to process

give me a few days and i will upload a zip to my G-drive

Hey John, thanks a lot !

The textures are really beautifull ! And I'm amazed at the total absence of any polar pinch effect. Very good job !

The venus-like textures are very "atmospheric" ! So alien-like worlds !

Can you try to make some with many sharp "holes", like Earth's cloud map, to drop some sharp shadows on the land texture ?

(by the way, what about the asteroid models you were working on ?)

here are a four more with more clear areas better defined

but
the cloud shadows ARE visible in the first zip archive images

Thanks John.

These last textures are less good than the first one. The rendering in Celestia is less convincing.
Maybe just a matter of personal taste.
