Hi John,

the second one looks really nice.
The only thing that is a bit irritating me is the long "chinese" wall of the high mountain range. This looks somehow "artificial" or constructed to me. Perhaps it's just the angle of the pictures.
Some interruption or lower heigths in between it would feel more normal to me. But that's just my uninformed gut feeling.

BTW: What is that triangular area with the for rectangles in it in the first picture? Looks like pretty big artificial structures. A spaceport or some megacities  ?

Best regards,

Guckytos

I'm not sure but the mountain chain seems done by the so-called "ridged multifractal noise". Never explored that Blender section yet.

it is a "ridged multifractal" blended into other noise

Nice,

I didn't know that Blender could do this kind of stuff. But on the other hand I was never too deep into the creation of worlds.
And I am just happy to not turn on my computer at home for too long. Sitting in front of one at work is currently enough for me.

But I really appreciate your efforts and good works, John.

Best regards,

Guckytos

Hi John,

nice textures as always. They are really enjoyable.

How do you define "earth like" for yourself? Blue water, green/brown land and orbiting a G-type star? Or just within the habitable zone of any star and blue water and green land?

What looked a bit strange on the last couple pictures is the overlayed height map. Especially in the wooded/green regions. I know why it looks the way it looks and that it is due to Celestia itself. But somehow it made me stop and say, that doesn't look "right".
I am not saying it is looking bad, just that it doesn't look "right". I just compared it to the Blue Marble and I still have the same feeling. Don't know if there is anything that could be done about that.

Perhaps if you added a few big rivers? Would that make it feel more natural? I don't know.

And sorry for sounding critical, which I am not, just in a (wondering) mood.

Best regards,

Christian
