Don't you already have Xnview?
Piece of cake... Just view image in Windows Explorer (on my machine) and right-click to convert from tif to raw.
Thanks, Bob

Well, if I remember correctly, I did have to take some care in following the installation instructions in order to get it set up correctly on my Windows Vista machine. Perhaps your OS has something to do with the difference?

At any rate, I can convert almost any image from almost any format using Xnview as part of my Windows Explorer installation. The program has been set up so that it operates now as part of Windows Explorer. That is to say that it is integrated into my explorer options. I can right-click on any graphics file name, and the Xnview option "Convert To" appears in the drop-down menu.

Again, just FYI... :wink:

Ok, I had to install X11 to run Xnview and could at last export in raw to do a bin to reduce my file using Fridger's tools. Tx Bob, wasn't THAT easy but I get it!

I find it very strange that neither Photoshop nor GraphicConverter can do this - both can only import RAW. But if you look around, perhaps there is a plug-in for it to one of those programs. It should be, it is a very obvious omission...

Just a thought here...
Send me an e-mail attachment of the TIF file you want to process, and I'll see if it can be done correctly on my system. Just a thought to see if the program does work correctly at my end. I know it does for all other conversions, but I don't think that I'd know if a RAW output file was okay or not.

Go ahead and e-mail me a small file if you like (or even a large one) and I can convert it and e-mail it back to you to see if it is converted correctly.

Thanks, Bob

Christophe,

such a converter is part of my F-TexTools. It's called png2bin

and converts PNG to BIN (raw).

typing at the console prompt

png2bin -h

gives the following help output:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Usage: png2bin

Version 1.0, October 2007, author: F. Schrempp

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The program reads PNG textures from STDIN and
converts them to unsigned bpp x 8 bit integer raw format at STDOUT.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Interleaved RGB(A) ordering: (RGB(A)RGB(A)RGB(A)...).
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hence converting the PNG file 'image.png' to 'image.raw' just involves the extremely simple console statement:

png2bin < image.png > image.raw

This works for grayscale, RGB colored and RGBA (color+alpha) images.

Yes, Tx to point it out; I miss it because I was really concentrated on the nm and tx tools... :roll:
