I thought I had a go at it to make it even nicer and ready for 3d visualization. It's fate is however quite uncertain, due to some unpleasant event happening tonight ...
Nevertheless, have a look. I did quite a bit of smoothing of rough mosaic transitions. Altogether plenty of delicate fine tuning, without altering the amazing amount of original detail, of course.

simple cylindical map that is 4096x2048 pixels in reality.
Compared to the previous official Ciclops texture of June 2008, there is great progress due to close fly-by's in the meantime.
