Hi all,
as promised elsewhere, let me open this forum with a "photo shooting" of two of my latest textures of the Saturn moons Iapetus (4k) and Enceladus (16k !) by means of
Celestia.
The input data are directly from the
Ciclops imaging team.
As to iapetus, I added crucial new imaging data to my already existing
Iapetus texture.
See how nicely the view has improved. While somewhat less rigorous scientifically, I thought I show you my more artistically pleasing version including a generated bumpmap and a specular map that displays the icy reflections beautifully:
Iapetus (4k)

Here I spent quite some time to get entirely rid of some nasty artefacts, like a well-visible line along the joining ends of the texture. It run right across the first detail image. Have a look whether you can still make it out?

I will release these textures, when I am satisfied about their high quality. This might well happen quite soon.
Probably, I will upgrade to a 8k version first...
Enjoy,
