ElChristou,

Just wanted to THANK you publicly for the way in which you create your
brilliant models for Celestia. Since you have been kind enough to
create your CMOD's in an ASCII format, I can easily change the labels
associated with the textures you use to create your stunning representations
of spacecraft.

I KNOW that this isn't a big deal to others, but with the way in which I have my
Celestia extras folder set up, this makes a BIG difference when it comes to
placing models in my "Spacecraft" folder. If two of your models use a texture
with the same name, then I'd have to figure out another way to place the
add-on in my textures\medres folder. Since you have created a model in the
ASCII format though, all I have to do is rename the second "A.jpg" texture to
something else, and then change the label in the cmod.

All very elementary to you guys, I'm sure, but I really DO appreciate this
consideration for us Brain-Dead types.

Again, thanks VERY much for all that you do.

Take care, Bob

Mhmm... Bob, frankly I'm not sure to recall which model you are talking about...
Anyway if you are happy with it, it's just cool. Now I fear some of my models are not in ASCII...

Some of them are not. This is true...

However, it was a very nice touch to make some of them
in ASCII mode. Was really NICE to be able to change the evil A.jpg to
something else.

At any rate, you KNOW how much I love your models, so make 'em
any way you like. I'll use them however I have to. Wink

Again, thanks very much for the superb models.

Take care, Brain-Dead

By the way, it was the Atlantis model which was in the ASCII mode.
This really makes no difference, except that it very much makes it
easier to accommodate some model textures which have been
named the same thing in different models.

If I had had to modify one of your Binary models, I would simply
have "Fix"ed the cmod and output the result to an ASCII format
in order to let me change it.

You did save me some extra work though, so I thought I'd mention
that it was much appreciated. Wink

Tx for the kind words Bob.

In general binary cmod are better because much smaller than ASCII. Now, I'll note your comment and try to not call textures the same way in different addons, in case other people would try what you do...

Very much appreciate that my friend. Others may also since they tend to place things in the
Celestia\textures\medres folder. Don't know WHY people can't read your instructions unless
it has something to do with the packaging we talked about on that OTHER forum. Wink

Thanks again, Bob

Just one more quick note to others here who may not know that the Binary CMODs can very easily be converted to ASCII so that they can then be modified to use other texture file names. Were you people not aware of this? Rhetorical question I suppose, but this is easily possible using the 3dstocmod converter. You simply load up the 3dstocmod program, select a binary model as the input file, and then simply "fix" it and direct the output to an ASCII model having another name.

Don't know if anyone else was even aware of this capability, so I just thought I'd contribute something back to the community which makes my disabilties and retirement so much more fun. Wink

Thanks again, Brain-Dead Bob
